Het bijhouden van een haakblog heeft zo zijn voordelen, want afgelopen jaar werd ik rond kerst getrakteerd op een doosje cadeautjes van Durable Yarn! Ik mocht zelf mijn favoriete kleurtjes uitzoeken en kreeg niet alleen een doos vol heerlijke bolletjes Soqs garen, maar ook drie geweldige kerstballen in de vorm van een bolletje wol. Perfect voor in mijn lekker over the top kerstboom!
Blogging about crochet has its’ perks, because around Christmas last year, Durable Yarn presented me with a box full of Christmas gifts! I got to pick my favourite colours and not only did I receive a box chuck full of wonderful skeins of Soqs, I got surprised with 3 wonderfully gaudy Christmas baubles in the shape of a skein of yarn. Since I had decorated my tree in a wonderfully gaudy way, this was perfect for me!
Soms is het goed om creativiteit niet te dwingen, dus ik legde de bolletjes even weg voor het moment dat ik ineens een geniale ingeving kreeg. En die ingeving kwam gelukkig, en hoe! Ik ben geen type om sokken te haken (maar zeg nooit nooit, natuurlijk), dus wist ik al heel snel dat het iets anders moest worden. Een soort kort vestje à la Chanel leek me wel wat. In streepjes. Ik zag het al helemaal voor me.
Most of the times, it’s a smart thing to not force creativity, so at first I put the box of Durable Soqs aside for the moment that my creative brainwave would arrive. And boy, did it arrive! I’m not the type to make socks (although, thing might change of course), so I knew it had to become something else. A nice, short cardigan in the style of Chanel was what I had in mind. With stripes. I had a pretty good feeling about this one.
Laten we voorop stellen dat ik de koningin ben van het mezelf moeilijker maken dan strikt noodzakelijk is. En daarom konden de streepjes in mijn nieuwe vest natuurlijk niet “gewoon” streepjes worden. Ik ontdekte deze geweldige steek op Pinterest en wist meteen dat ik hem móest gebruiken. De ‘Pebble Stitch’ werd hij genoemd en hoe hard ik ook zocht op Nederlandse sites en Nederlandse namen, ik kwam er niet uit. Dus doopte ik hem de ‘Kiezelsteek’ en ging ermee aan de slag. En na vier rijen wist ik al; dit wordt prachtig!
Let’s make one thing very clear; I am the queen of making things a lot harder for myself than strictly necessary (be honest; how many times do you have to google that word before writing it down? Necessary…). That’s why I couldn’t of course just use “regular” stripes. Luckily, I found this awesome stitch on Pinterest, the Pebble Stitch. I started working with it and after as little as four rows I knew; this was going to be awesome!
En zo ontstond de Petit Pebble Cardigan. Een heerlijk schattig, kort vestje. Toegegeven; het is even wat werk. Vooral omdat het lijf aan één stuk wordt gehaakt, zijn de eerste rijen heel lang. En het garen en dus de haaknaald die je gebruikt is dun. Dit is geen grote-stappen-snel-thuis-project zoals ik doorgaans maak. Maar dan heb je uiteindelijk wel wat! Een heerlijk, makkelijk draagbaar vestje, dat je in iedere kleurencombinatie kunt maken als je zelf wilt!
That’s how the Petit Pebble Cardigan came to light. A cute, short cardigan. Truth be told; this isn’t done in the blink of an eye. The body is made in one piece, so the main part is made out of long rows. The yarn as well as the hook is quite small. This isn’t the go-big-or-go-home project that I usually design. But the end-result is SO worth it. A wonderfully wearable cardigan, to be made in every colour combo you could possibly desire!
Ik heb het patroon voor 6 maten geschreven, van maat S tot maat 3XL! Met een grote groep geweldige testers heb ik ervoor gezorgd dat het patroon zo compleet mogelijk is geworden. Één van mijn eigen favoriete onderdelen van dit patroon zijn de mouwen: voor iedere maat sluiten de schoudernaden zo aan dat de rijen kleuren precies in elkaar doorlopen. Dit maakt het vestje nét wat bijzonderder en nét wat minder “handgemaakt” ogen en ik hou ervan!
I designed this pattern for 6 different sizes, from size S to size 3XL! A large group of testers helped me make this pattern as complete as possible. One of my own favourite parts of this design are the sleeves; I made sure that in each size, the shoulder seams line up so perfectly well, that the rows of colours seem to continue on from shoulder to body. This gives this cardigan just that little extra something something. A little less visibly “hand made” and I love it!
