Toen ik begon met het ontwerpen van The Whole Zoo – Cardigan voelde ik het eigenlijk al een beetje: hier zat veel meer in. Mijn toenmalige vriend rolde zijn ogen ongeveer uit zijn oogkassen wanneer ik weer eens thuiskwam met een lekker dierenprintje, maar ik was er gek op. En toen ik eenmaal begon met dierenprinten ontwerpen, was ik niet meer te stoppen!
When I first started designing The Whole Zoo – Cardigan I pretty much knew that it wouldn’t end with just that. My boyfriend at the time rolled his eyes so far backward he could see behin him whenever I came home with yet another lovely animal print, but I loved it. And once I started designing animal prints, there was no way back.
Het vest werd een enorm succes en dolgelukkig ging ik verder met het ontwerpen van de Zebratrui in dezelfde collectie. Ook die werd weer met luid gejuich ontvangen. Dankzij de hulp van een lief Instagramcontact, kwam ik op het idee om iets met giraffenprint te doen. Want na het luipaard en de zebra, was dat een perfecte volgende stap!
The cardigan was an overnight succes and I couldn’t have been happier. Chipper as ever I made the Zebra jumper for the same collection. That one too was welcomed with a lot of praise. Thanks to the help of a lovely Instagram contact, I came up with the idea to make somethng with a giraffe print. Because after the leopard and the zebra, that was the perfect next step!
En zo ontstond de Giraftrui: The Whole Zoo – Giraffe Raglan. Een heerlijke trui voor zomeravonden, winters op de bank, leuk voor op het terras als je de optie voor korte mouwen kiest en altijd mooi, in iedere kleurencombinatie.
That’s how the Giraffe sweater came to be: The Whole Zoo – Giraffe Raglan. A wonderful pullover for summer nights, winters on the couch, fun to wear for drinks in town if you opt for the short sleeves and always pretty, in whichever colour combination.
Ik heb het patroon ontworpen voor DK garen. DK garen betekent garen voor haaknaalden 4,5 tot 5. Bijna ieder garenmerk heeft volop keuze voor deze maat. Kies bijvoorbeeld voor premium acryl zoals Scheepjes Colour Crafter of Stylecraft Special DK. Of ga voor de budgetvariant van Budget Yarn bij wolplein. Je kunt ook kiezen voor een katoenmix of natuurlijk een heerlijke luxe wol. Om de trui te maken heb je haaknaald 6mm nodig, of als je los haakt 5,5mm. Het patroon komt met uitgebreide uitleg, een schema en gedetailleerde foto’s waar nodig.
I designed this pattern for DK yarn. Any DK yarn will do. The upside to this is that almost every yarn brand carries multiple choices for you. Will you go for a nice premium acrylic yarn like Scheepjes Colour Crafter or Stylecraft Special DK? Or do you go for a nice coton mix or a luxurious wool blend? To make this sweater, you’ll need crochet hook 6mm, or if you crochet loosely a 5.5mm hook. The pattern comes with clear instructions, a chart and detailed photo’s when needed.
Natuurlijk heb ik eerst weer een blikje testers opengetrokken om dit patroon uitgebreid door de mangel te halen en ook zij hebben prachtige producten afgeleverd. Dankzij hun hulp is het patroon duidelijk en goed werkbaar geworden. Een heerlijk haakproject dus!
Of course I let loose a pack of testers on my pattern first, to put it to every test they could think of. Their finished items are simply amazing! Thanks to them the pattern turned out very clear and workable. A wonderful new crochet project for you!
