Toen wij een half jaar geleden redelijk spontaan ons huis kochten en wisten dat we een flink verbouwingstraject in zouden gaan, had ik nog de optimistische hoop dat ik tussendoor heus wel zou kunnen haken. Dat ik, na een hele dag behangen en schilderen, 's avonds op de bank behoefte zou hebben aan iets anders. Lekker hersenloos haken. Dat bleek een grove overschatting van mezelf. Iedere avond stortte ik op de bank en deed ik niets. Letterlijk niets. Drie maanden lang.
The minute we (quite spontaneously) bought our house and knew we would get ourselves into a huge home reno project, I still had the optimistic hope that in between the jobs, I'd crochet my heart out. That, after a full day of painting and wallpapering and all, I would sit down on my couch and feel the urge to create. Lovely, mindless crochet. Pretty soon that turned out to be a grove overestimation of my own abilities. When I sank down on the couch at night, all I wanted to do was *nothing*. Literally, nothing. For 3 whole months.
Maar ik ben terug! Hoera en hoezee en ballonnen en slingers! Om heel eerlijk te zijn heb ik haken tijdens de verbouwing niet gemist. Maar nu het stof is neergedaald, mijn werkkamer ingericht is en ik een paar dagen waanzinnig lang heb geslapen op het bed dat ook eindelijk weer in elkaar in de juiste slaapkamer staat, heb ik er weer zin in. Zin om aan de slag te gaan, zin om te ontwerpen.
But I'm back! Hurray, huzzah, balloons and confetti! To be honest, I didn't miss crochet one bit during all the reno-ing and deco-ing. But now that the dust has settled, my craft room has been decorated and now that I've slept wonderfully for a few nights in a row in the bed that has finally reached it's final destination in the right room in the right form, I feel like it again. I feel lik getting back to business, like getting back to crochet.
Dus dankjewel dat je bent blijven hangen in mijn afwezigheid! Ik beloof dat het een volgende keer niet weer zo lang en extreem wordt. En nu ga ik in mijn mooie roze stoel in mijn mooie roze werkkamer zitten, pak ik mijn garen op en ga ik ervoor. Tot snel!
